New data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention shows that guns are the leading cause of death for children. More children are dying from guns than from car accidents in America.

Kansas and Missouri are among the worst states in the country for firearm deaths. Of the 50 states, Kansas is fifth-worst in the nation. Missouri is ninth.

Dr. Sean Nix, director of trauma at Saint Luke's Health System, spoke to KMBC about the new data.
