A life-changing new procedure is being performed in Kansas City that will eliminate the need for open-heart surgery for a lot of patients.

Saint Luke's Health System and Children's Mercy are among the first to use a newly approved heart valve that doctors call revolutionary.

KMBC talked to Dr. Anthony Magalski, cardiologist at Saint Luke's Mid America Heart Institute, about the new Harmony Transcatheter Pulmonary Valve by Medtronic, and David Persinger, who was one of the first people to undergo the innovative procedure in Kansas City.
