After being on a ventilator, whether it's someone battling COVID-19 or another illness, it can take a lot of hard work to get back to a normal life.

Saint Luke's Rehabilitation Institute in Overland Park treats those who face a long road to recovery even after the ICU.

KMBC talked to Dr. Brad Steinle, medical director of Saint Luke's Rehabilitation Institute, and one local man who was placed on a ventilator after becoming severely ill from pancreatitis.
