The COVID-19 pandemic continues to put significant stress on Kanas City hospitals, health systems, and front-line workers.

KSHB 41 News was granted behind-the-scenes access to the Saint Luke's Hospital Emergency Department and intensive care units (ICU), where COVID-19 patients are treated.

In this two-part series, KSHB reporter Dan Cohen speaks with Dr. Andrew Schlachter, pulmonologist and critical care physician, Dr. Marc Larsen, emergency physician, and ICU nurses at Saint Luke's about the toll the pandemic is having, what doctors and nurses are seeing inside our emergency department and intensive care units, and the impact the two-year battle against this virus is having on the mental and emotional state of our care teams as they continue to fight to save patients lives.
