Diabetes is becoming increasingly prevalent throughout the world, with higher rates among our nation's veterans. More than 10 percent of Americans - around 34 million - have diabetes, including more than 7 million who are undiagnosed.

According to the Veterans Health Administration, diabetes affects nearly 25 percent of VA patients. 

VFW Magazine talked to Dr. Todd Fristo at Saint Luke's Primary Care-Independence about steps people can take to stay healthy and prevent diabetes.
