Job Description​

The Opportunity:

Saint Luke’s Healthy System is hiring a Data Scientist for the Data Governance program with experience working with Data Governance tools, SQL, EPIC, SSIS, and various dashboarding tools. This is a remote opportunity.

This is a position resourced to the Data Governance program in Enterprise Analytics Team. This individual will work alongside a very supportive leader who is standing up the Data Governance program for the organization.

The Data Scientist coordinates the organization’s quality, security, and maintenance of data; defines data assets; builds data lineage maps; works with Data Stewards, stakeholders, and cross-functional groups on establishing and changing policies. This individual is energized and passionate about governance and ensuring sufficient data quality to effectively support the business process and provide insights to all staff and management through thorough testing and validation of data systems to promote trusted data in decision making and supports a system wide data catalog and self-service analytics.

The Work:

  • Assists the data governance team in the implementation and execution of an enterprise data governance framework, policy, and standards.

  • Supports data needs across the organization by developing, implementing, and enforcing policies that ensure quality, security, and maintenance of data.

  • Oversees and analyzes strategies designed to enhance data reliability and minimize redundancies.

  • Develops and manages technical asset inventory, asset relationships, and business and technical metadata.

  • Helps facilitate the management of the Data Dictionary and the business process flow to support it.

  • Identifies areas and helps lead efforts for continuous improvement in business processes, technology, or other related processes that impact the quality of data.

  • Develops control structures to ensure the accuracy and quality of data through all upstream and downstream data channels.

  • Performs data integrity gap analysis to verify that certain controls are in place over applications that ensure data integrity. Coordinates the resolution of data integrity gaps by working with the business owners and IT.

  • Defines and builds processes to define and build data lineage of enterprise data assets.

To be successful in this position, you must be passionate about data and have ability to work with both technical and non-technical teams across the organization. You will need to have strong process facilitation, project management, and analytical skills.

  •  3-5 years of SQL experience preferred.

  • 1-3 years of EPIC experience and/or Epic Certifications are preferred.

  • 1-3 years of healthcare experience is preferred.

  • Strong understanding of reporting tools and technologies, and SharePoint.

  • Experience in data quality management and/or master data management.
