Job Description
The Opportunity:
Saint Luke's Health System, a regional health care leader in the heart of Kansas City, MO, is actively recruiting Anesthetists to help staff. Saint Luke's Hospital (SLH) is a Becker's 100 Best Hospitals/three-time Magnet-designated/USNWR-ranked tertiary care, academic, not-for-profit medical center affiliated with the University of Missouri Kansas City School of Medicine, with both nationally recognized cardiac and neuroscience institutes, the Mid America Heart Institute and Marian Bloch Neuroscience Institute, respectively.
SLH has a Level One trauma center, a Level Ill NICU, and a Comprehensive Stroke Center. Our anesthetists care for a wide range of patients undergoing a wide variety of procedures. Case types in the Main OR include general surgery, neurosurgery, ENT, plastics, robotics, kidney transplants, orthopedics, and GYN. We cover a variety of out-of-OR procedures as well, including gastroenterology, interventional and neurological radiology, and MRI. Our anesthetists have the option to work exclusively in the Heart Institute, performing anesthetics for cardiothoracic and vascular cases, heart/liver transplants, and EP lab. The option to split time between cardiac and Main ORs is also available.
SLH has a vibrant and busy obstetrical service and has the area's only Heart Disease in Pregnancy program, drawing parturients from a vast geographic area. Our anesthetists are given the option to join the OB anesthesia team, where they are responsible for placing epidurals and spinals.
As a busy academic center, we are actively involved in the education of all future anesthesiology health care providers. SLH is the core facility for the UMKC SOM-affiliated anesthesiology residency program, as well as a training facility for multiple CRNA and AA programs.
