Job Description​

A Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant I is developing skills in the clinical setting. This COTA will assist in completion of patient treatment programs as planned and directed by the registered Occupational Therapist, through the use of exercise and functional activities. Referral of the patient by a physician and evaluation by the OTR are required prior to COTA involvement with the patient. The COTA will report information to the supervising OTR and keep accurate progress notes in the patient medical record. May also participate in a rotation system for specialties of services. The COTA Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant, will have passed a service competency review determining acceptable performance, based on the current certification process. At the critical access hospitals, responsibilities include directing the Swing Bed activities program for swing bed patients.
