Job Description​

The Opportunity: 

Saint Luke's South Hospital in Overland Park, Kansas is hiring an Ambulatory Surgery Center Director. This position will coordinate, manage, and oversee day-to-day operations of the Facility and its employees, ensuring activities are carried out in accordance with established policies and procedures including: daily staffing, front desk check-in and check-out operations, time and attendance sheets, scheduling and procedure reports, supply chain management, sterile processing, and all other operational activities within the center. This position will supervise nursing leads, registered nurses in preoperative, operating room and postoperative, ancillary personnel, materials management, scheduling, and registration. 


As the director, you will support the philosophy, goals, and objectives of the facility. You will provide clinical support in the Operating Room, if needed. You will lead and develop clinical and non-clinical team members. This position will partner with quality and risk teams to improve care for patients and safety for staff and patients. You will Monitor the Facility’s physical environment and initiate methods for maintaining safety, comfort, cleanliness, and orderliness. 



 The Work: 

  • Serve as the director of nursing to oversee all nursing activities including enforcement and implementation of nursing practice standards and policies/procedures that align with principles and practices 

  • Oversee patient access including registration, insurance collection, copayments, and the check-out process 

  • Communicate with patients, visitors, physicians, and co-workers, including disseminating information received from patients to the appropriate people or department 

  • Contribute to the progress and development of the Facility's adopted Quality Management Program by performing according to approved continuous quality improvement policies and procedures 

  • Work in collaboration with Quality Director to prepare reports, analysis, and recommendations for evaluation to meet regulatory standards and ensure patient safety. 

  • Partner with the system risk management department to objectively evaluate suggestions, grievances, and processes to identify opportunities to improve performance and quality of care 

  • Support and lead an effective infection prevention program, including processes for high level disinfection and sterile processing 

  •  Review and monitor activities related to safety and infection control policies and procedures and monitor all incidents to assure they have been appropriately documented, investigated, and reviewed with staff 

  • Assist with planning and the capital and operating budget based on the financial data collected during the fiscal year and monitor operating costs to determine cost containment procedures are enforced 

  • Review monthly financial reports with the Vice President for variances from budget and coordinate staff adherence to the cash and accounting controls 

  • Scheduling of staff 


We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse with operating room and leadership experience. Experience in the Ambulatory Surgery Center environment and knowledge of facility operations related to patient care, scheduling and registration, physician relations, fiscal management, cost controls, budgeting, and policy and procedure development is preferred. We are seeking an RN leader who has experience working closely with administrative and medical staff in marketing and patient care service functions. Experience with medical coding, billing, cash management, and accounts payable is preferred.

Advanced Cardiac Life Support - American Heart Association or Red Cross, Basic Life Support - American Heart Association or Red Cross, Registered Nurse (KS) - National Council of State Boards of Nursing (NURSYS)
