Job Description​

Saint Luke’s East Hospital has opened a brand new Medical Observation Unit to help improve hospital throughput and capacity while enhancing the patient experience. We are hiring for experienced registered nurses to join this team. This brand new unit is supported by leading technology and our virtual nurse team who will provide floor nurses with support, oversight, and assist with monitoring. This team will work closely with multidisciplinary teams across the hospital.

This new unit will be a busy unit with frequent admissions and discharges. This nursing position is supported by Certified Nursing Assistants and a Virtual RN team. Each patient room will have a screen where they can interact with a virtual nurse quickly. This virtual nurse team will assist with monitoring, education, documentation, and will work collaboratively with the floor nurse to ensure the patients receive exceptional care.

This position will provide you with the opportunity to:

Responsibilities:

  • Functions independently and accountable for utilizing the nursing process.
  • Coordinates the care for a group of patients with the Multidisciplinary Team.
  • Delegates tasks appropriately.
  • Identifies hospital resources.
  • Serves as a clinical resource for new employees.
  • Demonstrates positive formal or informal leadership within unit or department.
  • Collaborative team approach with the addition of a Virtual Nurse, that helps with electronic oversight. The role assists the primary nurse in chart review, patient education, and coordination of care. This role can help with many delegated communications with care team and families.
