Job Description​

The Opportunity:

This infectious diseases (ID) pharmacist role works in the ID physician clinic alongside providers in managing both acute and chronic infections, assisting with patient monitoring and counseling, regimen adherence, and other collaborative practice opportunities. This pharmacist will work to ensure access to safe and cost-effective medication solutions that optimize patient adherence and outcomes, and leveraging available Saint Luke’s resources when possible. This role will be primarily on site, split between two campuses, with possible remote work available.

ID Pharmacist Experience Is Required.

This is a fantastic opportunity to establish ID pharmacist presence in our ID clinics, expand collaborative practice opportunities, and help patients achieve optimal outcomes. Opportunities to assist with education medical and pharmacy staff is available, along with options to create pharmacy residency training rotations within the ID clinic. This person will serve in a multi-disciplinary role with professional relationships involving various health care professionals, both in and outside the clinic and pharmacy team.  Autonomy and self-motivation will be essential.

Shift Details: This will be part-time (20 hours/week), Monday – Friday position with schedule to be determined by the needs of the clinic

  • 90% onsite, 10% remote
  • No Nights, No Weekends

The Work:

  • Assists in the multidisciplinary treatment and management of patients requiring ID specialty care in the outpatient setting, including patients transitioning from the acute care setting
  • Collaborating with necessary parties to provide advanced services such as specialty medication access
  • Complex outpatient antimicrobial therapy (COpAT) management, including treatment monitoring and adjustments
  • Assist with managing chronic infection such as HIV and Hepatitis C
  • Education and training of medical and pharmacy staff, including students and residents
  • Developing outpatient evidence-based order sets
  • Provide guidance on appropriate ID-related diagnostic testing application as it relates to treatment optimization
  • Assist with insurance issues, as necessary
  • Identifies areas for practice innovation

To be successful in this position, you need to be solutions focused and driven to help others. You will need to have effective communication skills and self-driven. We are looking for an ID pharmacist who enjoys problem solving and is always looking for ways to improve how to serve our patients.

Job Requirements

  • Doctor of Pharmacy and an ASHP accredited residency program or equivalent experience preferred
  • Experience managing ID patients
  • Licensed pharmacist in both Kansas and Missouri
