Job Description​

The Clinical Research Systems Administrator oversees technical implementation, integration, and ongoing support for the Research Operations technology suite. The Clinical Research Systems Administrator will liaise with Research Operations staff, product vendors, IS leadership, and Finance staff to ensure technical specifications and configuration of systems support clinical research operations. The Clinical Research Systems Administrator must have a sound understanding of technology best practices and clinical research terminology and processes. The Clinical Research Systems Administrator will work closely with Research Operations and study team members to analyze research accrual data. Research system management activities include but are not limited to identification and implementation of research system improvements based on user feedback and new business processes, aid with training, creation of reports, data integrity checks, verifying software deployment and upgrades, ensuring accurate data transfers to other systems, and assisting with system validation. This position requires the ability to provide an exceptional level of service for key interactions with researchers, research staff and administrators. Candidate must have experience working with a Clinical Trials Management System (CTMS), preferably Clinical Conductor.

Bachelor's Degree or an equivalent combination of education and work experience to equal four years; supplemented with three (3) or more years working in one of the following areas: health care, clinical research, or academic environment.

  • Partner with IS staff, Research Operations staff, and product vendors on application development, implementation, integration, and oversight of clinical research management systems to align with organizational goals.

  • Serve as Product Owner and Subject Matter Expert for applications that support research operations.

  • Perform all System Administration responsibilities, including User Account Management, maintenance of system libraries, and periodic system audits.

  • Coordinate and communicate with vendors and end users on system issues, upgrades, and maintenance.

  • Facilitate training and user adoption across the research systems user community.

  • Provide Tier 1 and Tier 2 support for research management system issues and requests. Track and resolve user issues, requests, and enhancement ideas. Facilitate problem resolution with vendors. 

  • Develop, implement, and maintain procedures, work instruction, and training aids to support research system user community.    

  • Create, maintain, and develop reports and dashboards as needed for daily operations and strategic planning by the Office of Research Services. 

  • Work with study teams to confirm and improve the accuracy of research management data.

  • Support audit and regulatory inspection activities relating to the access and use of research systems.

  • Lead efforts to continuously improve the research operations systems workflows. 

Research and Information Technology Skills:

  • Must have working knowledge of clinical trials and related documentation.

  • Familiarity with terminology and processes associated with all phases of clinical research.

  • 2+ years of clinical research operations or related training.

  • 2+ years’ experience working with a Clinical Trials Management System (CTMS), preferably Clinical Conductor.

  • Working experience with Redcap and clinical trial data analysis solutions desired.

  • Experience with management and administration of cloud database platforms.

  • Basic knowledge of Information Technology.

  • Experience or skill-set to support workflow for integrated testing.
