As an Inpatient Nurse in our Community Hospital locations, you will provide total patient care and head to toe assessments to patients with various medical conditions and treatment plans in a small collaborative environment. You will have the opportunity to cross-train and assist the Emergency Department RN as needed. This position has a lot of variability in day – to – day patient diagnoses and can be unpredictable at times. You will have the opportunity to perform your own labs and provide a multidisciplinary approach to patient care. Our Community Hospital model will provide you more time to provide patient education and build a relationship with your patients. This position will require strong teamwork skills with interdisciplinary model of care.

This team assists on the ER side with stabilization of patients and basic patient care when applicable or needed.
Shift Details: PRN Extra- must work a minimum of 6 shifts in a 6 week period, with at least 2 being weekend shifts. 2 minor/1 major holiday.
Responsibilities:
• Assures safe care at all times and upholds the commitment to care for each patient as a sacred trust.
• Demonstrates the ability to manage care within the established standards of nursing care and practice as defined by the state of Kansas and the nursing profession.
• Delivers continuous competence in caring for individuals based upon age-specific needs.
• Appropriately triage patient and prioritizes needs, displaying a caring and responsive attitude.
• Conducts all activities respecting patient, family, and employee rights and expectations, realizing that primary patient needs take precedence.
• Provide basic bedside care and administer treatments under the direct supervision of the physician, anticipating patient needs and responding accordingly.
• Initiate care to stabilize patient and assist in managing life support needs by collaborating with physician and clinical staff, demonstrating appropriate admission, discharge and transfer procedures.
• Collect detailed patient history and symptoms, including vital signs, providing appropriate care in a timely and cost-effective manner.
• Accurately and concisely documents services provided within the medical record in a thorough, timely manner.
• Consult and coordinate with medical team to assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care plans.
• Prepare, administer and record prescribed medications according to the 5 Rights of Medication Administration.
• Collect laboratory samples and perform lab testing in accordance with COLA and CLIA regulations and established policies and procedures.
• Demonstrate ability to perform laboratory Quality Controls and Assessments, and routine daily, weekly, monthly and periodic maintenance and function according to Laboratory Policy and Procedure.
• Report adverse treatments or medications in accordance with current policies and procedures.
• Prepare patient meals, cleans the environment and assures a healthy workplace.
• Ensure proper supplies, appropriate medical equipment and medications are available for patient care and PAR levels meet facility needs.
• Maintains confidentiality of all hospital and patient information as required by facility policy and HIPPA laws.
• Participates in QAPI activities including participation in accreditation preparation and survey process and maintenance of accreditation, state, and CMS standards.
• Adheres to established facility/departmental policies and procedures.
• Follows established policies and procedures regarding attendance, requesting time off according to procedure established by supervisor.
• Maintains clean work area, facility, equipment and break room.
• Maintains dress and appearance according to policy.
• Seeks consultation/collaboration for complex issues or when unsure, utilizing resources appropriately.
• Attends and participates in all applicable facility meetings, training and development workshops.
• Performs all other duties as assigned by supervisor.
