Job Description​

The Opportunity :

Saint Luke’s Hospital of Kansas City in Kansas City, MO is seeking a Director of Materials Management to join our team. As an experienced professional in this role, you will have the opportunity to manage and direct oversight of supplies, supply chain process, Advanced Logistics programs, and supply chain staff within CSR, OR, CVOR, Cath Lab, and IR departments. This role requires a background in Healthcare, clinical experience is preferred. Your expertise will drive change and innovation to ensure our vision, “The Best Place to Get Care. Core responsibilities will include but are not limited to: accurate inventory management through the use of Par, POS technology, LUM and Kanban techniques, linen and laundry, patient care equipment logistics management, supply chain ordering and receiving, case pick activities for all procedures, preference card recommendations, and Bill Only processing

The Work

  • Establishes and monitors services to meet specified and general needs in support of patient care and the operations of the hospital
  • Evaluates Materials services and works closely with department management to proactively identify, pursue and resolve discrepancies in service requirements.
  • Ensures staff training has been conducted to prepare employees for proper performance of their jobs
  • Establishes computer system requirements for operational areas, including receiving, tracking and stocking of supplies
  • Develops and directs quality control measures and system to guarantee efficiency and optimal delivery of services.
  • Manages space allocation and structures the physical aspects of the department for maximum operational efficiency.
  • Develops and routinely reports on key performance indicators related to department performance
  • Identifies additional areas for service within the Department and conducts outreach to assess viability and approachability
  • Works with vendors to address product or delivery request and issues
  • Assists in the preparation of the operating and capital budgets for all supported departments
  • Provides ongoing oversight and monitoring of department expenses
  • Routinely conducts analyses and provides reports as needed
  • Identifies and implements cost savings in operations, products and services with-out sacrificing patient care, quality and service of the department
  • Oversees and serves as the contact person for administrative record keeping requirements as related to Joint Commission, OSHA, Department of Public Health, AATB, and other governmental agencies
  • Manage vendor access to operating rooms, through use of RepTrax system for Perioperative Services
  • Reviews personnel operations, department plans, projects and systems to ensure that resources and structures are sufficient to effectively accomplish goals
  • Staffs the departments with the appropriate management personnel to support and achieve departmental goals and objectives

This position will report directly to the Director Resource Management Advanced Logistics for Saint Luke’s Health System, with direct line reporting to Saint Luke’s Hospital CFO and COO for day to day operational considerations.
