Job Description
The Pharmacy Drug Use Policy Coordinator will collaborate with medical, nursing, pharmacy, and healthcare team members on the development, maintenance, and implementation of drug use policies, protocols, and initiatives, and activities of the Saint Luke’s Health System Pharmacy &Therapeutics (P&T) Committee.
Other responsibilities include, but are not limited to, strategic planning for biologics and therapeutic advances, collaborating with medical staff and Saint Luke’s Care in development of evidence-based guidelines for therapeutics, evaluating new drugs for the formulary, facilitation of System P&T Committee meetings and development of content for those meetings, serving as resource to staff on complex therapeutic and formulary management issues.
Collaborate with medical staff, other healthcare providers (i.e. local subject matter experts) and health system leadership to critically evaluate new drug therapies and develop formulary recommendations
Assist the System P&T committee by ensuring medications requested for addition to formulary are evaluated for their efficacy, safety and value
Maintain the formulary and formulary system
Support change management with local sites related to formulary and drug policy changes including communication plans, education, and implementation support
Identify and develop cost containment strategies through: Evaluation and implementation of biosimilar therapies, Conducting medication utilization evaluation (MUE) activities, and participation in group purchasing organization (e.g.. MSS, Vizient) activities
Optimize strategies for stewardship of high-cost medication therapies
Collaborate with revenue integrity on payment strategies (e.g. NTAP)
Assist with budget forecasting and management
Assist with identifying therapeutic alternatives for pharmaceutical drug shortages Assist with training of pharmacy residents and pharmacy students and with continuing education activities for pharmacy staff, and when appropriate, medical staff
Pharm.D. or equivalent degree from an accredited school of pharmacy in the U.S.
Pharm.D., post-graduate residency training preferred or equivalent experience
Board certification in Pharmacotherapy preferred

Applicable Experience:
3-5 yearsBasic Life Support - American Heart Association or Red Cross, Licensed Pharmacist (KS) - Kansas Board of Pharmacy, Licensed Pharmacist (MO) - Missouri Division of Professional Registration
