Job Description​

Saint Luke’s East Hospital is opening a brand new Medical Observation Unit to help improve hospital throughput and capacity while enhancing the patient experience. We are hiring for experienced registered nurses to join this team. This new unit brings leading-edge technology into every room to provide the bedside nurse assistance from a virtual nurse with support, oversight, and assist with monitoring. This team will work closely with multidisciplinary teams across the hospital.

The PRN Requirements for this position is a minimum of 3 shifts in a 6 week period. Employee must work 1 weekend shift within 6 weeks and 1 minor holiday.

This position will provide you with the opportunity to:

  • Work with a variety of patient care, conditions, and diagnoses; which will allow you to overcome new challenges every day.
  • Work on a busy, fast-paced multispecialty unit that will allow you to grow your skills in a variety of areas.
  • Have support and collaboration from virtual nurses in each patient room to help with monitoring, education, and documentation to ensure the patients receive exceptional care.

Responsibilities:

  • Functions independently and accountable for utilizing the nursing process.
  • Coordinates the care for a group of patients with the Multidisciplinary Team.
  • Delegates tasks appropriately.
  • Identifies hospital resources.
  • Serves as a clinical resource for new employees.
  • Demonstrates positive formal or informal leadership within unit or department.
  • Collaborative team approach with the addition of a Virtual Nurse, that helps with electronic oversight. The role assists the primary nurse in chart review, patient education, and coordination of care. This role can help with many delegated communications with care team and families.
