Saint Luke’s Health System is seeking a Hospitalist in Kansas City, MO.
Job Duties: Treating patients in the hospital. Consulting with other physicians. Required to see some ICU patients, interact with nurses, admit patients to the hospital and discharge them home in a safe manner. Co-manage patients with her other internal medicine hospitalists, nurse practitioners, and nurses. See an average of 15 patients per day and required to cover overnight shifts at times. 90% of time will be with patient care. Must be board certified in internal medicine, have Kansas and Missouri licenses, and be in good standing with the medical staff at several hospitals within the Saint Luke's Health System. Work primarily at one hospital, however there may be circumstances that require treatment patients at one of the St Luke's hospitals in the system.
Qualifications: M.D. or foreign equivalent and one year of experience in the job offered or related occupation. Also requires demonstrated experience with: Diagnosing and treating systolic, diastolic, and all forms of heart failure. Adhering to established standards of care. Diagnosing and treating ischemic, hemorrhagic, embolic, and all forms of cerebral vascular accidents. Adhering to established standards of care. Diagnosing and treating community acquired pneumonia, aspiration pneumonia, and all forms of pneumonia. Adhering to established standards of care. Diagnosing and treating sepsis and adhere to established standards of care. Diagnosing, treating, and administering preventative care for thromboembolic diseases including pulmonary embolus, and deep vein thrombosis. Proficient use of Electronic Medical Records including; timely and accurate documentation. Diagnosing and treating ischemic heart disease including acute coronary syndromes, acute myocardial infarction. This includes recognizing when to consult cardiac specialists, placing patient on appropriate monitoring in the intensive care, and collaborating with the patient/family to educate/participate in the treatment plan.
