Job Description​

The Vascular Access Nurse is a Registered Nurse who inserts and monitors Peripheral, PICC, Midlines and ultrasound guided IV's. Acts as a resource to staff regarding vascular access line therapy and IV assessment, products and procedures. Assists with difficult IV access when needed. This position may also perform chart audits, monitoring and follow-up with staff and physicians to ensure core measure compliance.


Candidate will be expected to participate in Central Line audits, respond to VAT consults, insert PICC and Midlines, Ultrasound guided IV, Port- A- Cath Access/Deaccess, Catheter declotting, Peripheral IV insertion throughout the hospital, maintenance of all central and vascular access as well as giving in-service, educate patient and staff nurses regarding CLABSI prevention.

*This position requires the nurse to work autonomously on some weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities:

  • Functions independently and accountable for utilizing the nursing process.

  • Coordinates the care for a group of patients with the Multidisciplinary Team.

  • Delegates tasks appropriately.

  • Identifies hospital resources. Serves as a clinical resource for new employees.

  • Demonstrates positive formal or informal leadership within unit or department.
