Saint Luke’s East Hospital has opened a brand new Medical Observation Unit to help improve hospital throughput and capacity while enhancing the patient experience. This new unit will be supported by a virtual team of Medical Surgical Nurses. Our patients now have an extra team member watching over them via this virtual team. This is an advanced way Saint Luke’s is using telehealth to improve patient care and patient outcomes.
The Virtual Nurse Program is a new collaborative team model that will allow experienced Med/Surg Nurses to work virtually with a care team at the bedside. This brand new unit is supported by leading technology and offers you the opportunity to work in an innovative virtual environment. Saint Luke’s is leading the way in patient care through this innovative approach and using advanced technology to provide our patients a cohesive cutting edge team of Med/Surg experts at their side during their hospital stay.

This position will provide you with the opportunity to:
• Have electronic oversight of the patients on the unit
• Assist the primary nurse in chart review, patient education, and coordination of care
• Help with many delegated communications with care team and families
As a member of this collaborative care team you will be responsible for patient advocacy, prevention, telecommunication, proactive continuous monitoring, evidenced-based care, clinical decision support and humane compassionate and ethical care.
We are looking for experienced Medical Surgical Nurses to join this team and help Saint Luke’s in leading the way in patient care!
To be successful, you will need to be flexible, adaptable, and positive. We are looking for energetic, team focused nursing professionals who are motivated by an environment where they can continuously learn and grown, support others in their growth and work with cutting edge technology. We are looking for nurses who can work autonomously while supporting their teammates through collaboration and anticipate the needs of patients and others on the team. This is not a remote/work from home position. The Virtual Nurse positions will be located at the Technology Campus in Lees Summit.
