Saint Luke's Nursing Assistant Academy

Senior high school students interested in health care careers can apply for Saint Luke’s Nursing Assistant Academy. Classroom work and hands-on training at Saint Luke’s East Hospital prepare you to become a nursing assistant at Saint Luke’s.

Six-Week, Paid Training

Once accepted into the Academy, you will train for six weeks, Monday – Friday, Noon – 4 p.m. 

  • Weeks 1 – 3: In-class instruction, simulation, and hands-on content at Saint Luke’s System Offices (I-435 and Holmes in South KC)
  • Weeks 4 – 6: Training in a hospital patient unit with an experienced health care professional at Saint Luke’s East Hospital (Lee’s Summit)
  • Work at least two 12-hour shifts, can be completed after high school graduation

A Job at Saint Luke's

Once your training is complete, you will have a job as a nursing assistant at Saint Luke’s East Hospital and will be able to work evening, overnight, or weekend shifts. Benefits of working for Saint Luke’s include:

You must work at least 20 hours per week to participate in Saint Luke’s benefit programs. This program will prepare you for jobs within Saint Luke’s that do not require certification. Certification is required for nursing assistants at residential living facilities and regional hospitals
