For new hires with little or no prior experience, we offer a six-week, full-time, paid on-the-job training program to prepare you for your nursing assistant career.

What Does a Nursing Assistant Do?

Nursing assistants are invaluable to the patient experience. Responsibilities include:

  • Assisting patients with daily living tasks such as feeding, bathing, and moving around
  • Collaborating with other health care team members to personalize and enhance the patient experience
  • Responding to and anticipating the needs of patients’ family members

Paid On-the-Job Training

Saint Luke’s has developed a full-time, six-week, paid training program to equip entry-level nursing assistants with the knowledge and skills they need for the job. 

The program encompasses both classroom work and hands-on training at Saint Luke’s hospitals, culminating in full, supervised shifts. No college degree required.

Note: This program will prepare you for jobs within Saint Luke’s that do not require certification. Certification is required at our residential living facilities and for nursing assistants at our regional hospitals.

Education Assistance Program

Continuing education is vital at all levels of health care. Through Saint Luke’s Educational Assistance Program, we offer generous support for continuing education costs. Employees can receive reimbursement for tuition, enrollment and registration fees, and required books or other materials for:

  • Seminars/webinars
  • Conferences, symposiums, and workshops
  • Approved health care-related coursework
