The recent death of actor Chadwick Boseman brings to light the rising trend of colon cancer in younger adults across the U.S.

New cases of colorectal cancer in adults under 50 have increased by about 2% every year since the mid-90s, and the number of people dying from the cancer is also rising, according to the American Cancer Society

FOX4 talked to Dr. Liudmila Schafer, oncologist and director of GI Oncology at Saint Luke's Cancer Institute, about the importance of early colonoscopies, and one local woman who has a message for others.
