October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. According to the National Breast Cancer Foundation, in 2022, it's estimated that there will be over 287,000 new cases of invasive breast cancer diagnosed in women in the U.S., along with more than 51,000 new cases of non-invasive breast cancer.  

Being diagnosed with breast cancer and going through treatment is life-changing. Friendship, connection, and emotional support have a tremendous impact on navigating this journey.

Two strangers facing the biggest battles of their lives at Saint Luke's Cancer Institute come out on the other side stronger and as best friends. Melanie and Jill meet during treatment and develop a friendship that has impacted not only their lives but their fight against this disease.

Jill and Melanie spoke with FOX4 about their journey with breast cancer and the beautiful friendship they built along the way.
