Two families brought together in tragedy managed to fight through the heartbreak to form a truly unique bond.

Seven years ago, Gary Dixon received a heart transplant at Saint Luke's Mid America Heart Institute. Soon after, he wrote a letter to his donor's family, forming a special relationship for years to come.

KCTV talked to Gary and his donor's mother, Tesha, and Dr. Andrew Kao, medical director of heart transplantation at Saint Luke's Mid America Heart Institute, about their touching story.
