Jane T. Neal, DDS, recently retired from her position as a member of the Hedrick Medical Center Board of Directors. She had been a member of the Hedrick board for 13 years. Dr. Neal graduated with a BSN in nursing from the University of Missouri in Columbia. She then went to work for St. Louis Children’s Hospital while her husband attended dental school. Upon her husband’s graduation from dental school, the family moved to Chillicothe, where Dr. Neal worked as a school nurse for five years. In 1989, she decided to apply to dental school at the University of Missouri-Kansas City. She was accepted and graduated in 1993. Upon graduation from UMKC, Dr. Neal joined her husband, David M. Neal, DMD, in his dental practice. The two of them practiced general dentistry together at Neal Family Dentistry in Chillicothe for many years. They both retired from the practice on May 3, 2020.
“I started my Hedrick Medical Center Board term at the old HMC hospital. It was a thrill getting to see all the plans come together for the new hospital, and I watched with excitement throughout the construction of the new facility. The day of the big move to the new building was a day I’ll always remember,” said Dr. Neal. “Another highlight for me was the development of the beautiful healing gardens for patients and the public to enjoy. The HMC Foundation has done a tremendous job developing that beautiful environment. Lastly, I’ll always think fondly of the many wonderful and dedicated staff members. I’ve truly enjoyed getting to know them.”
“I want to personally thank Dr. Neal for her support and dedication these past 13 years,” said Steve Schieber, CEO, Hedrick Medical Center. “Being a part of this board is a big commitment, and to be a part of something like that for 13 years really shows what kind of a person Dr. Neal is. She really cares about this community, and her many contributions to the community and to our hospital will never be forgotten.”
Dr. Neal was recently honored with a plaque presented by Hedrick CEO, Steve Schieber.
